AnswerConnect Pricing: The Plans, the Setup Fee and What to Ask

If you searched for AnswerConnect pricing, you’ve probably hit the catch already. The “View plans and pricing” link on answerconnect.com leads to a form asking for your name, company email and phone number. But AnswerConnect does have a price list. It sits on a separate page, answerconnect.com/plans-direct, that isn’t linked from the homepage and is marked to stay out of search results. We checked both on 22 October 2026.

Below are the prices from that page, how AnswerConnect bills, what its own cost guide says the market charges, what to ask before you sign, and how it compares with other services. Fair warning: we make Ansdale, an AI receptionist, so we compete with AnswerConnect for some customers.

How much does AnswerConnect cost?

PlanMinutesMonthly priceSetup feeEach extra minute
Entry200$350$49.99$2.50
Growth300$395None$1.85
Standard400$575$49.99$1.85
Larger plans550 to 2,500$795 to $3,375Not stated$1.85
Volume plans5,000 and upFrom $6,650Not stated$1.75

Every plan includes 24/7 live answering and appointment scheduling. AnswerConnect says all interactions are rounded up to the nearest minute and billed in one-minute increments, and that the first 30 interactions under 30 seconds in each billing cycle are free. Asked whether you’re locked into a contract, its answer is “Not at all!”

One thing jumps out of that table: the 300-minute Growth plan is better value than the 200-minute Entry plan for almost anyone. Entry costs $350 plus a setup fee and charges $2.50 for extra minutes, so at 220 minutes it’s already $400, more than Growth’s $395 for 300 minutes with no setup fee. Because the price page is unlinked, ask AnswerConnect to confirm these are the prices you’ll be charged before you sign.

One thing that trips people up in search results: CCH AnswerConnect is a tax research product from Wolters Kluwer. It has nothing to do with AnswerConnect the answering service, so ignore “AnswerConnect alternatives” articles about tax software.

What does AnswerConnect say an answering service costs?

AnswerConnect publishes a guide to answering service costs on its own blog. It gives industry benchmarks, which it says are based on public pricing from several live answering providers, AnswerConnect included, as of July 2025:

  • Basic live answering: $300 to $500 a month, with benchmarks of $1.50 to $1.75 a minute and 200 to 300 minutes a month.
  • Premium live answering with scripting, CRM links, live chat or bilingual agents: $400 to $900 a month.

Its own plans sit at or below that range: Entry works out at $1.75 per included minute and Growth at about $1.32. AnswerConnect describes its service as human-only and pledges to keep every customer interaction with a person rather than a bot. If you want a live receptionist and nothing else, that’s a point in its favor.

What should you ask before you sign?

Whether you sign up from the price page or through a sales quote, get these answers in writing:

  1. Which plan am I on, and how many minutes are included?
  2. How are minutes rounded? AnswerConnect’s price page says to the nearest minute, so a 70-second call bills as two.
  3. What counts toward minutes? Hold time, the receptionist’s notes after the call, time spent transferring to you.
  4. What’s the overage rate? On the Entry plan it’s $2.50 a minute, well above the bigger plans.
  5. Are there setup, onboarding or script-change fees? Entry and Standard list a $49.99 setup fee.
  6. What’s the notice period to cancel or change plans?
  7. Do nights, weekends and holidays cost more?
  8. Can they book appointments, and into which calendar? Or do they take a message for you to call back?
  9. How do emergencies reach you? How many people can be on the call list, in what order, and how long between tries?
  10. Are spam and wrong-number calls billed?

For comparison, Ruby answers most of those questions on its own website: it bills in 60-second increments rounded up, counts hold time, and doesn’t charge more for after-hours coverage. Our Ruby Receptionist pricing breakdown goes through it.

A quick worked example. Say your calls use about 250 minutes a month. On AnswerConnect’s price list, the 300-minute Growth plan at $395 is the cheapest fit; the 200-minute Entry plan plus 50 extra minutes would be $475 before the setup fee. PATLive’s closest fit is its 200-minute plan at $349 plus 50 minutes at $1.99, about $449. Ruby’s 200-minute plan alone is $720. Among live services, AnswerConnect’s Growth plan is competitive at that volume.

Is a live answering service worth it for a contractor?

It can be. A trained person is better than software with a caller who’s upset, confused or describing something complicated, and some customers simply want a human. If most of your calls are like that and they’re worth a lot, a live service earns its price.

For a typical trade business the math is harder. Calls come in bursts, plenty are price shoppers, and storm weeks or heat waves multiply the minutes. An AI receptionist answers every call at once, books the job and costs a fraction as much; Ansdale, ours, is $49 to $199 a month with booking on every plan. The trade-off is warmth with a distressed caller, so make sure any AI you choose can pass those calls to you. Our guide to answering service vs virtual receptionist covers the differences, and our virtual receptionist pricing guide runs the numbers for per-minute, per-call and flat plans.
