SMS Consent & Opt-In Policy
Last updated: August 16, 2026
Consent to receive text messages is collected by the individual home service business at the point of service request. Ansdale is the messaging platform those businesses use to send appointment-related texts; Ansdale does not collect consent on its own behalf, and does not message consumers except on behalf of the business the consumer contacted.
How Consent Is Collected
Web form. The customer enters their phone number on the business’s booking or contact form. The form carries an unchecked consent checkbox, which the customer must tick themselves. The checkbox reads:
I agree to receive text messages about my service appointment from [Business Name]. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. We will not share your mobile information with third parties for marketing purposes.
The checkbox is never pre-ticked, and the form links to this SMS policy and to the Privacy Policy beside it. Submitting the form without ticking the box completes the booking but does not opt the customer in to text messages.
Phone. When a customer calls to book, the AI receptionist states that appointment updates will be texted to the number provided and records the customer’s verbal agreement in the call record.
Consent Script (Staff or AI Receptionist)
“Before we finish, I would like to let you know that [Business Name] uses Ansdale to send you a text confirmation of your appointment and a heads-up when your technician is on the way. Standard message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP at any time to opt out. Do you consent to receive these messages?”
How Consent Is Used and Stored
- Consent is never purchased, rented or shared. Mobile numbers and opt-in data are not sold, rented, or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
- Consent is not a condition of purchase. A customer may book, buy and receive service without agreeing to receive text messages.
- Opt-in is stored per customer per business. Consent given to one business does not carry over to any other business using Ansdale.
- Consent records are retained for a minimum of 12 months.
Consent Records & Call Recording
SMS consent given by phone is documented in the call’s transcript and summary. Calls are recorded only where the business has enabled recording; in that case callers are informed and asked for consent at the beginning of the call, and a caller’s decline stops audio recording for that call. Example transcript excerpt:
Receptionist: Do you consent to receive appointment confirmations and updates by SMS?
Customer: Yes, I consent.
What You Will Receive
- Appointment confirmation (1 message per booking)
- Day-of reminder and staff ETA/arrival notification (1–2 messages per visit)
- Scheduling updates if your appointment changes
- Business account holders may also receive one-time verification codes and service notifications
Message Details
Message frequency varies — typically 2–3 messages per appointment.
Message and data rates may apply.
How to Opt Out
Reply STOP at any time to opt out. You will receive no further messages from that business.
Opt-outs are enforced permanently at send time: every outbound message is checked against the opt-out list before it is sent, and a customer who has opted out will not be messaged again unless they text START to resubscribe. Opt-outs are honored automatically across all message types.
